Private Indoor Pool Mt Eden

Mt Eden • Dec 2014

This home in Mt Eden had an outdoor pool that the owners wished to transform into a more useable health and recreation area. They planned to include an indoor pool, spa, gym, sauna, steam room and a games room.

For this project HWHPs (Hot Water Heat Pumps Ltd) was challenged with ease of access to each zone and providing thermal comfort for each area. We needed to ensure that evaporation from the pool and spa would not cause damage to the structure and the rest of the home. While our heating and condensation control systems were required to achieve the desired results other factors that played a key role in reducing the amount evaporation from the surface of the pool were the design of the area and use of a cover. These factors help reduce the running costs required for heating and ventilation.

Fortunately we were brought into the project early in the design process and collaborated with a great team of individual companies and people. This allowed us to locate the mechanical and pool plant room for the best position to save latent energy leaving the enclosure that could be recovered and save the owners greater amounts on their running costs. The architect designed the extension around a Duoheat heat pump and Vent-Air system that was concealed by an underground air distribution system that keeps the enclosure comfortable, healthy and condensate free at all times.
